How did you get into your creative field?
I’ve always had a deep appreciation for beauty, fragrance, and the way a simple ritual can bring you back to yourself. As a 911 operator, I work long, high-stress shifts—and I found comfort in creating small moments of calm at home through scent and self-care. What started as a personal need evolved into Mahogany Dreams, a creative outlet where I could blend my love for wellness, storytelling, and natural ingredients into something tangible and luxurious for others.
What advice do you have for those wanting to start making and designing products?
Start with intention—know why you’re creating and who you’re creating for. Focus on quality over quantity, and don’t rush the process. Take time to research your ingredients, test your formulas, and trust your voice—your uniqueness is your magic. Most importantly, stay consistent and be patient. Growth takes time, but the love you pour into your craft will always shine through.
Tell us about your favorite product that you’ve made.
My favorite product is my signature body oil. It took time and intention to perfect the formula because I wanted each drop to feel like a warm embrace, like love bottled just for you. It’s more than skincare; it’s a sensory ritual designed to nourish both the skin and the spirit.
What do you do to ensure the quality of your work meets your clients’ expectations?
Quality is at the heart of everything I create. I carefully source high-performing, natural ingredients and handcraft each batch in small quantities to maintain consistency and freshness. I also listen closely to customer feedback—it’s important to me that every product not only meets expectations but feels like a personal, luxurious experience from start to finish.
What inspires you in your creative journey?
I’m inspired by the beauty of everyday rituals and the quiet strength of women who carry so much yet still find ways to pour into others. Scents, textures, and memories from my own life often guide my creativity—I create to honor softness, rest, and the kind of care that lingers long after the moment has passed. My goal is always to bottle that feeling.How do you approach pricing your work?
I price my work based on the quality of my ingredients, the time and care it takes to craft each product, and the value of the experience I’m offering. Mahogany Dreams is rooted in luxury and intention. I want every item to feel indulgent, without compromising on integrity or accessibility. Pricing also reflects the sustainability of my business so I can continue to grow while serving my community well.What do you love most about your creative path?
What I love most about my creative path is the freedom to tell stories through scent and texture—each product becomes a love letter to rest, softness, and care. I’m honored to create something that helps people slow down and reconnect with themselves. What are two goals that you have for your company this year?
One of my goals this year is to build deeper connections with other business owners through meaningful collaborations and shared spaces. I’m also focused on scaling Mahogany Dreams through retail partnerships and increasing brand visibility, so more people can experience the luxury and intention behind every product.Are there any mentors or role models who have influenced your path?
My greatest inspiration is my grandmother. As a widow, she provided for her family with grace, strength, and endless love. That same spirit lives in Mahogany Dreams. I create with the same care and intention she poured into everything she did.How do you see your role as an artist and maker evolving in the future?
As I grow, I see my role expanding beyond product creation into storytelling, mentorship, and community building. I want to continue creating experiences that nourish the senses while also opening doors for others—especially women—who dream of building something meaningful from the heart.
